Geography of Tarragona

Tarragona opens onto the Mediterranean along the Costa Daurada and culminates, to the south, in the Ebro Delta, one of the largest wetlands and rice-growing areas on the Peninsula. Inland rise the Els Ports massif and the Priorat ranges. The climate is Mediterranean, hot and dry in summer. The Aleppo-pine woods of the coast and of Els Ports concentrate the wildfire risk. Fun fact: the ancient Roman Tarraco, with its seaside amphitheatre, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
