Geography of Alicante
Alicante combines the Costa Blanca with a mountainous interior —Aitana, Serra de Mariola, Puig Campana— and, to the south, the arid Vega Baja of the Segura. The climate is Mediterranean, especially dry and warm in the south, one of the least rainy corners of the Peninsula. The Aleppo-pine woods and scrub of the inland ranges concentrate the summer wildfire risk. Fun fact: the Palmeral of Elche, with over 200,000 palm trees, is the largest in Europe and a World Heritage Site.
