Geography of Segovia

Segovia stretches between the Sierra de Guadarrama in the south and the northern cereal plateau, with the vast Tierra de Pinares in the west. The climate is continental, with cold winters and dry summers. The Scots-pine woods of the sierra and the resin-tapped maritime-pine forests concentrate the summer wildfire risk. Fun fact: Segovia's Roman aqueduct, almost 2,000 years old, is one of the best-preserved in the world, and the region keeps the resin-tapping tradition alive.
