Wildfires in Aragon

Aragon combines large cereal and scrubland areas in the Ebro valley with forests in the Pyrenees, Moncayo and the Teruel mountain ranges. The cierzo, a dry north-westerly wind, can drive agricultural and forest fires very quickly, especially in summer after heatwaves.

In 2022 the region suffered several large fires in the province of Zaragoza, such as those of Ateca and Añón de Moncayo, which forced the evacuation of several towns and villages.

Prevention and firefighting are managed by the Government of Aragon, with forest crews, environmental rangers and aircraft, while 112 Aragón coordinates emergencies. Here you can follow today's satellite hotspots in Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza, check each province's fire danger and reach the official sources to confirm any fire.
