Wildfires in Andalusia
Andalusia has one of the largest forest areas in Spain and a long fire season: the INFOCA Plan sets the high-danger period from 1 June to 15 October, although fires can start in any month when vegetation is dry and the easterly (levante) or westerly (poniente) winds blow.
Sierra Morena (Huelva, Seville, Córdoba and Jaén), the Serranía de Ronda and Sierra Bermeja in Málaga, and the Cazorla, Segura and Las Villas ranges concentrate much of the risk. Well-known recent fires include Moguer (Huelva, 2017), which reached the Doñana area, and Sierra Bermeja (Málaga, 2021).
Firefighting is led by the Junta de Andalucía's INFOCA Plan, supported by national resources such as the UME military emergency unit or BRIF brigades when needed. This page shows today's satellite hotspots in the eight Andalusian provinces, each province's fire danger and links to official information.
