Geography of Jaén
Jaén is a vast sea of olive groves that yields close to a fifth of the world's olive oil. To the east rises the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, the largest protected area in Spain and the source of the Guadalquivir; to the north lie the Sierra Morena and the Despeñaperros pass. The climate is continental Mediterranean, with very hot summers. The extensive pine forests of the eastern ranges concentrate the summer wildfire risk. Fun fact: Cazorla is the largest protected area in the country.
