Geography of A Coruña
A Coruña faces the Atlantic between the Rías Altas and the wild Costa da Morte, in a relief of gentle mountains and green valleys. The climate is oceanic, humid and mild. Yet the vast eucalyptus and pine plantations, together with rural abandonment, make Galicia the region with the most fires in Spain, with fierce waves in summer and autumn fanned by the wind. Fun fact: the Tower of Hercules, in the capital, is the oldest working Roman lighthouse in the world and a World Heritage Site.
